Professor Molina to Rep CapLaw at Global Meeting on Law and Society

CapLaw Associate Professor Melinda Molina is one of a select group of legal educators selected to present at the Global Meeting on Law and Society in Lisbon, July 13-16.

Professor Molina will be part of a roundtable presentation on the book “Gender, Power, Law & Leadership,” by Hannah Brenner and Renee Newman Knake. Members of the roundtable were contributors to the book, including Professor Molina who wrote, “Addressing the Lack of Diversity on Corporate Boards: Building Responsive Law School Pedagogy and Curriculum.”

The legal scholars will “discuss their work in the context of current events, including but not limited to the need for empathic leadership, intersectionality and race, efforts by states and companies to increase female board members, perceptions of leadership in non-traditional spheres, the impact of Title IX on access to leadership in collegiate athletics, and the advancement in the judiciary and the legal academy,” according to the abstract for the presentation.

Other law school professors on the panel represent the University of Arkansas, Western New England University, Boston University, Washburn University, University of Florida, University of Tennessee, and University of Michigan

The Global Meeting, which will be held at ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon, takes place every five years. This year’s theme is Rage, Reckoning & Remedy. Portions of the conference will be offered in a virtual format to accommodate those unable to travel to Portugal.
